Jesus Never Talked About Symptoms

Think of all the accounts of Jesus healing people in the Bible. There’s one thing missing.

Jesus never asked about symptoms. He didn’t ask how long they’ve been in that condition. He didn’t ask about all the aches and pains.

He simply healed them.

I decided to think more deeply about this interesting fact. Why didn’t he talk about symptoms?

This quote from Mary Baker Eddy sums it up: “Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God’s own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick.”

Instead of buying into symptoms and the material picture, Christ Jesus was seeing the perfect man – “God’s own likeness.”

The Bible tells us we were created in God’s image and likeness. So, why would we waste our time thinking about what appears to be happening to our material body.

As I was thinking of this the other day, I was instantaneously healed of a sprained wrist. It had been so painful up to that point that I didn’t sleep for the two nights prior due to the intense, constant pain.

But realizing that I must refuse to look at the symptoms, refuse to question how it happened, why it happened, how long it would stay, and understanding that I must see myself only as the unimpaired, complete, perfect child of God – healed me instantaneously.

I didn’t have to spend my time trying to figure out how to heal a sprained wrist. All I had to do was realize I was God’s daughter – made in His image and likeness and that left no room for anything at all that is not 100% good and wonderful.

So, the next time you’re tempted to think about or dwell on symptoms, remember how Jesus healed. You’ll find your freedom quickly and wholly.

Hi Julie,
I thought you might be interested in Mark 9:20-21:

"They brought the boy to Him. When he saw Him, immediately the spirit threw him into a convulsion, and falling to the ground, he began rolling around and foaming at the mouth. 21 And He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. "
